VENICE – November 2001 – Venice based Technology and Design firm Imagistic has announced the offering of a new intranet product known as RICS – The Restaurant/Retail Information and Communication System. The system is design with restaurants in mind, but can easily be adapted for use by any company interested in enhancing communication and sharing information across multiple store locations. The system comes complete with a powerful content management and publishing system making it easy for anyone to update, change and delete content from the system without having to be technically skilled or know HTML.
The benefit to a company using an intranet lies in providing a central source for all employees to easily and efficiently have access to pertinent information and to be kept up to date on the activities, policies and status of the company. RICS has a main home page that can feature company news headlines, often-used forms, and other timely items. This area is completely customizable, as are most of the other areas, and can be easily adapted for each client's unique needs.
Other features include full search capabilities so the entire contents of the site, including keywords contained within documents, can be queried. The system allows users to upload and download all types of documents, such as Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF, Excel and image files.
Another important feature is the secure, username and password protection of RICS. A designated administrator can determine the level of access for any given user. This means that some users may be given limited access to some parts of the intranet or may only be able to read content, but not edit or delete. The system allows content and administrative permission to be set at multiple-levels so as to allow distinct access privileges for employees, managers and corporate officers.
Clients using the product are able to upload all types of content to the site such as recipes, training manuals, HR policies, inventory lists and other materials that are normally distributed in paper form. The resulting reduction in paper use and associated expenses like printing, binding, messengers and shipping can provide a significant cost savings. Content modification on the intranet is swift and effortless without requiring a company to go through expensive reprinting and reshipping when something needs to be changed.
"When a multi-venue restaurant or retail establishment realizes the amount of savings it will derive from this type of product, the decision becomes simple…" says Michael Weiss, Imagistic's CEO. "The RICS system allows various locations to all draw from the same well of information and thereby substantially increase efficiency and consistency while reducing costs."
The cost of the system includes basic customization, installation on a specified client controlled server, six months of limited maintenance/support and basic training for using the system.
