Manager of Technology

What is a Manager of Technology? At our company it is 20% management and 80% coding. We are a boutique company with a technology department of 3 developers with a handful of outside contractors. A Manager of Technology is a rock star developer who also has the skills to LEAD, MENTOR and DIRECT. A Manger of Technology is a backstop for the company when it comes to programming and development; it is the Manager of Technology’s responsibility to make sure the job gets done on time and on budget. This is a critical position as it is your job to set the example of what it means to be accountable to yourself, your department, the company and the client.

Your responsibilities include interfacing with clients, artists, integrators, programmers, and other Web development resources; writing thorough and well-documented code while leading project teams; developing specifications documentation, creating and implementing database schemas; and managing schedules and deliverables for multiple concurrent projects with both short-and long-term project schedules. A top priority is your ability to create and write documentation for Web software development projects. Pre-planning through Functional and Technical Specifications have been, and will continue to be, paramount to our company's success on projects. We will need to see samples of your writing and the documents you have created. Another top priority is that you are a .NET rock star. Only people with 3+ years of programming experience in the Internet arena need apply.

Skills:

• Excellent working knowledge in: .NET (C#), PHP, and Cold Fusion
• Strong working knowledge of SQL Server 2k / 2005, and mySQL, normalized database design, database administration, and developing Web-based back-office systems
• Expert-level knowledge of client-side programming (HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML). You may not be doing much HTML or slicing images but you must have this experience.
• Strong working knowledge of browser idiosyncrasies
• Knowledge of client-server methodologies including standard OSes, Web server software, TCP/IP, XML, XSL, RSS, AJAX, etc.
• Solid experience in Web production including a working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Visio, and other current Web production technologies

To succeed in this position you must have the ability to:

• write detailed technical and functional specifications and system documentation
• review and evaluate a project’s technical requirements and generate task lists, hours estimates, assumptions, questions and responses
• develop reliable, well-documented and modular code – be prepared to show examples
• wear multiple hats and have a great team attitude

Web Developer - Contract Position

 

Your responsibilities will include interfacing with clients, artists, integrators, programmers, and other Web development resources; writing thorough code and being part of multiple project teams; assisting in developing specifications; and managing schedules and deliverables for multiple concurrent projects with both short- and long-term project schedules.

Only people with 2+ years of programming experience in the Internet arena need apply.


Skills:

• Programming middleware languages / db systems (PHP, .NET, ASP)
• Expert-level knowledge of client-side programming (HTML, DHTML, Javascript, CSS, XHTML).
• Working with image development, production and slicing software
• Reviewing and evaluating a project’s technical requirements and generating task lists, hours estimates, assumptions and responses
• Strong working knowledge of browser idiosyncrasies
• Writing system documentation and detailed technical and or functional specifications
• Knowledge of client-server methodologies including standard OSes, Web server software, TCP/IP, XML, XSL, RSS, AJAX, etc.
• Testing and other quality assurance matters
• Solid experience in Web production including a working knowledge of Microsoft Project, Visio, and other current Web production technologies.

To succeed in this position you must have the ability to:

• develop reliable, well-documented and modular code – be prepared to show examples
• wear multiple hats and have a great team attitude


Please note that we are in Westlake Village. If you do not know where Westlake Village is, then that is probably a sign that it is too far of a commute for you. At 2:00 am with no traffic you can get here in 40 minutes from the West side. At 8:00 am it could take you 90 minutes. Trust us. We used to do the drive and then we moved out here!
